Hi Damian,

it seems you might be hitting some of the following issues:

[1] 6690194 fdisk(1M) doesn't clear VTOC when partition starts after or
exceeds 4GB limit
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/indiana/resources/rn3/#6690194

[2] 3397 Installation of OpenSolaris 2008. 11 development version based
on SNV 96, 97 fails because of not finding a file
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3397

In order to help you to proceed with the installation and
track down the issue you are encountering, could you
please attach /tmp/install_log after running the installer
from terminal window with debug mode enabled ?

$ export LS_DBG_LVL=4
$ pfexec /usr/bin/gui-install

Also, after installation fails, could you please attach
output of following commands  ?

# df -h
# zpool list
# zpool status
# zfs list
# zfs mount
# iostat -En
# fdisk -W - c3d0p0
# prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c3d0s2

Thank you,
Jan
