Hi Keith. Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, I discussed this with both Sanjay and Frank. There were two options here: either start the scan from Gnome after the system was booted, or to start the scan while the system was booting. The former would provide the popup notification sooner than the latter, but was ruled out because it would slow down boot time and was thus unacceptable. I will add something to the spec that the silent-mode scan should do only the minimum required to tell that a driver is missing. When the current DDU scans, it does more than the minimum. For example, it looks for packages when a driver is missing. This extra processing would slow down the system and wouldn't be necessary for a silent-mode scan. > > 6.2.1 Text Installer Use Case 1 > > At this stage, network connection status is unknown. I'll note that in the use case, and switch that use case with the other text installer use case since it won't be as relevant. If the user really wanted to set up the network before doing an install for some reason, he/she would have to do it manually, but it would be easier and accomplish the same thing for the network to be set up after the install has been completed. That way, more of the OS and apps (and so more tools) would be available to aid in setting up the network. Being that the text installer will use CPIO like the live CD installer does, the net isn't necessary for the initial install. > Beyond that, the spec looks great! Thanks!
