It appears you've gotten a great deal of detailed feedback which I
won't bother to duplicate. My only comment, and it appears to overlap
somewhat with one of Sarah's, is that the use of TI by the
application(s) could use more discussion, especially in the form of
more fully presented use cases based on the consuming applications.
The apparent requirement that the application figure out what is to be
deleted seems counter-intuitive to me; I'd really expect the TI module
to be able to do this (based on differencing the desired tree against
the existing tree, or something like that) or, at the very least,
provide methods that would be used by the applications to handle this
task, so that we're not creating lots of target manipulation logic in
each application.

Thanks for the review. We will be adding on the use cases.
In case you missed the reply to Sarah, we're considering strongly
removing the destroy tree. Dave just needs to do some more work to make
sure the replacement works.
