+1 even though there's nothing to review here.
In light testing on my two laptops, the new sort lists improve boot
time by 5-10% for the text install media, 10-20% for the live CD in
comparison to RE's snv_149 images. Improvement on text install is
smaller simply because the lack of the desktop reduces the amount
loaded directly from media.
Given that the improvement in the case of text install
is relatively small, does it even make sense to have
a sort file around for that media?
The improvements measured are against the existing file, not against no
sort at all. I assume that the text install team actually did that
evaluation in their development.
