"ping" is part of slim_install for build 163. For fresh installs, it should be there.

If you upgraded, it will have disappeared. This was noted in the release notes, and work has been done on the IPS side, and is being done on the install side, so that packages that "split" don't get lost in the same way in the future.

I noticed with build 163 that 'ping' is a separate package now, which is not a real problem. The problem is that it's not include in the packages that the documentation says is a "default" install (pkg:/entire, pkg:/SUNWcsd, pkg:/SUNWcs, pkg:/babel_install)
