Hi Erik,
You could also be hitting another issue, which looks very similar too, and was
fixed by 7053303.
You should also ensure that your XML is valid, by using the command:
xmllint --valid --noout ai.xml
The reason for that is that there was another bug where if provided with XML
that was missing the DOCTYPE entries, then validation of the XML wasn't done,
and this also caused default values to not be set in the XML, so the code ends
up getting things it really didn't expect.
