7101169 - non global zone - unconfiguration failure: svc:/system/config-user
Description:
A destructive system unconfiguration occurs in a non-global zone in the
following two scenarios:
*when booting a freshly-cloned, non-global zone
*when running the following command from inside a non-global zone:
# sysconfig unconfigure --destructive
In the command line case, the system end state is maintenance
mode. This mode provides a login prompt that allows the user to log in
as root user without requiring a password.
If unconfiguration of svc:/system/config-user fails in a non-global
zone, users see the following
error message generated:
"Unconfiguration failed for svc:/system/config-user:default"
This message indicates that the unconfiguration process failed to
completely unconfigure
the user accounts. These accounts include the admin user and root.
Users are likely see this message when they boot a freshly-cloned,
non-global
zone or when they run the sysconfig unconfigure command with the
destructive option.
In the case of a cloned zone, the impact is minimal. The final state is
a configured, operational zone.
User entries in the sudoers file may not be removed as they should be.
In the sysconfig unconfigure case, the unconfiguration process fails to
completely
unconfigure the user and root configuration information. The user may
run into a situation in
which it is not possible to log in at the maintenance prompt without a
root password.
Work around:
Log in as root user using the password that was set before unconfiguring
the non-global zone.
