Thanks Jan
Frank, you are welcome.
I found the problem with my DNS issues. It is commonly known as
dyslexia of the fingers. I had 224 instead of 244 in the addresses for
the DNS servers. It took me about 6 checks of things before I realized
my mistake.:-[
Ah, ok.
CR 7105452 submitted for quotes issue - not sure of appropriate
category, so used:
solaris/doc/install_solaris
feel free to amend if not an appropriate selection.
Thank you for filing the bug !
Since sample SC profiles are affected, I moved that CR into
solaris/install/configuration
category which tracks System Configuration related issues.

I am trying to work out why simply switching from Automatic to
static networking (using the supplied static_network.xml example)
only partially works.
It creates the network interface and the network is accessible, but
DNS does not work correctly.
In order to find out what may went wrong, could you please
provide information about which build you are running
as well as attach used SC manifest ?
Also, has desired DNS config been reflected in resolv.conf(4) ?
ie nslookup does not find host entries
server lists the servers correctly but any lookups fail
one thing I have noticed is that there is inconsistent use of single
quotes vs double quotes for the various element values in the xml file.
does this matter, and could it contribute to what I am seeing?
Both single quotes and double quotes can be used in this context,
so mixing them should not cause troubles.
That said, consistency is certainly desired, so perhaps filing low
priority CR for this issue would be appropriate.
