sorry, just to clarify. you mean you have to rewrite your old classes
(what would be models in CakePHP) to use the Cake method of accessing
the database?

if i'm understanding correctly you might still be able to write a
component that would represent your old DBC that can be used by any of
the classes that you migrate. then any new classes / models could use
the standard Cake methods?

maybe...

again, i don't know whether this would be best practice but may be possible.

or, as there was an earlier discussion regarding the use of CubeCart
within a Cake application, you might be able to do something similar
for your own applications.
