I did reply to the existing thread. Changing the subject line does not create a 
new thread. I changed the subject line to indicate that the topic of my message 
was different from the original topic. This recommended method of communication 
is known as re-threading and is described here:

Admittedly that advice is for a standard mailing list running standard mailing 
list software such as Mailman, and this is Google Groups which isn't totally 
the same, so I apologize if this is unfamiliar or confusing here.
