Hi Grant,

I have found that using /cake as an external and saving a diff of the
cake folder (to somewhere outside of /cake) as part of the build
process, means that you can check out a project using externals on a
different machine, apply the diff/patch and be up to date and good to
go.

The alternative of course is to setup a vendor branch (as Felix has
hinted in the past ) but IMO that approach is better suited to those
not wanting to regularly/automatically update their cake version. Also
has the disadvantage of fattening up the svn repository which may or
may not be a problem (the regularity with which the core gets updated,
I wouldn't want to duplicate the cake svn version info in 2 places,
manually, all the time).
