If you have good PHP skills, then I wouldn't worry too much about the
documentation. I have been learning both Cake and PHP over the last 18
months so have had a steep(ish) learning curve, mostly because of my
lack of PHP skills.

Cake is pretty easy to use, especially if you invest a little time
looking at the API. There are also a lot of excellent tutorials and
articles available to supplement the manual. And if all of that fails,
then you have a large and helpful community in this group, and the IRC
channel.

I rarely hit a problem that I can't resolve on my own these days, either
through PHP documentation, searching this group, or the related
blogs/articles.

Regarding learning "MVC": Just spend a day Googling MVC to get a handle
on the basics, then working through the basic Cake tutorials. It is
easy enough to pick up the structure and the naming conventions. I
found that building a couple of the sample apps made it clear to me.

In short, I wouldn't let the documentation issue stop you from using
Cake. It just has too much going for it.

Regards,
Langdon
