Word to the wise, don't gripe.  Search, research, and then ask, there
are a lot of friendly voices here even among us old grumpy old farts.
Taking the time to read the manual <http://manual.cakephp.org/> and to
peruse the API documents <http://api.cakephp.org/> will get you a lot
more effort returned.  Don't assume that stuff is missing, instead
assume that different language is used to name or describe it or
different mental models created similar functionality.  CakePHP is not
Rails but there is a lot of similar constructs that drive the two
development efforts.  The developers are people and you will get a lot
further if you treat them that way.
