CakePHP is easy to learn compared to other frameworks. But without good documentation, any framework seems hard. Good documentation was the only missing to CakePHP. Now, the community finally has all the resources to learn CakePHP fast and easy.
The work of AD7six and all contributors was impressive. Congratulations to all. Of course, this is the type of effort that never ends and there's yet a lot to do. To make CakePHP even easier to learn, we need to think on the experience of using it. For example, the translations still need great attention and effort. And to grab the people to do all this work we need to make all the process of translating to be very easy and pleasant. Not only the translation of the documentation. But all messages that pop up while developing in Cake. Of course this includes scaffold too. For a client that speaks English, be presented with an English scaffold is natural. This means that scaffold is automatic for this developer (as it should be). But for developers that deal with non English speakers this is not natural. Also, make your own translation and update it when Cake updates it's messages or google for a .po file is not automatic or reliable as it should be. We need an automated way to include official translation on app. For example, when starting a project, maybe on the bake console one could choose a locale and have an official LC_MESSAGES baked at the locale folder. Just an idea... Translate the official site could be another way to help newcomers and create a central place for learning. The point is... CakePHP should be a fantastic experience for foreigns too. Maybe point out this in a moment of congratulations seems strange. But don't get me wrong, I just though that if we are talking about better learning experience this is a good opportunity to think about this issues too. I think that Cake is already fantastic. And sure it's the best PHP framework out there. Even better now with this awesome documentation. I am just arguing that it can be much better for lots of people with little effort. Almost all that need to be done in this field will be done by the community interested in the translations. Again congrats to AD7six and all contributors.
