I read the thread about "slow response" some weeks ago and I've had this nagging thought.
In that thread it was mentioned that during bootstrap for each call Cake reads the folder structure. This was attributed to the slow response in that post. I've uploaded tons of files to our cake app that we're not really using, with the thought that "drive space is cheap". Examples would be the complete Crystal icon library, the complete Tango icon library, complete Zend api (for Google Data), etc. In each case, we're using a couple files now but I just left the entire package.
