IMHO, if you already are an experienced programmer, you can learn PHP and CakePHP simultaneously without much trouble.Differences between object-oriented languages are minimal (compared to other paradigms) When I started with CakePHP I already had experience with PHP, but when I tried RoR and Django I had Zero Ruby and Python experience respectively, and the conversion was quite straightforward.
