I think this brings up the language problem of terms like "connection" rather than "giving weight." To me, "giving weight" specifically means pulling. I like the idea of the lead person pushing a bit on the pointy hand (though I don't think I'd teach that in a beginners' workshop), but that's definitely different from what I mean by giving weight. I brought it up because I've danced with many moderately experienced dancers who use both hands to hold themselves and their partners together and upright in a swing, and I want to discourage that.
