I got a 7 inch after my kid bought a 10 inch and said she'd prefer a 7 for better portability. If you not looking for a "haul *everywhere*" device, then 10 might be better.
I put the night's program on Google Docs (locally cached, so not dependent on network connection). There's an app called (I think) "callers companion" that's only available on ipad (though it's underlying database is also on android, so maybe sometime?)
