Dear Lok CK, All, Information about this ceramic filter can be found at the following site:
http://www.rdic.org/home.htm It's developed by Mickey Sampson (read the article here: http://ki-media.blogspot.com/search/label/Resource%20Development%20International) who formed the NGO to produce and sell this filter. If my memory is correct, the cost of each filter is $8. The reason he decides to sell the filter rather than give it away free, is to make sure that the recipients value this product and take good care of them. If they were to be given free, some people would not take care of them. furthermore, he has also built a network of distributors in Cambodia as well. These distributors earn a small amount of profit, but more importantly, they spread the word about clean water. "Small is beautiful" after all. Congrats for Mickey for such a brilliant idea to help Khmer people. If you can please help donate to RDIC for a very good cause.
