Virak;
I do not prevent I know the solution. It is a real complex problem I
do not think it is an easy problem for Cambodia to solve or any country
for that matter. Look at the US, the richest nation on earth, still
tries to solve the illegal immigration for decades. Cambodia is only
a rice paddy or a creek away, local people near move in and out at
will. I do not think it will do Cambodia any good to use
ultranationalistic card like Chau Bury to attack the government because
it is divisive, and is destructive.
It is very sad that these purposed educated Cambodian politicians do
not learn anything from our destructive sad history of
ultranationlistic politics. The megalomania politicians use
ultranationalist politics to get to power by stirring old Cambodian
hatred of Viet people just as the NAZI used the Jews, the Gypsies as
scapegoat for German Prussia empire economic spiral downward.

If the oppositions are sincerely want to address the problem
of illegal vietnamese, they would not used as political tools to attack
the government as thai PAD party uses Prea Vihear to attack the

the receiver of millions of US tax payers monies, playing race card the
same line as Chau Bury, it disappoints me. I think Cambodia needs
better democratic politician than the current right wing race baiting
politician. I do share that Cambodia has to solve the illegal
vietnamese problem, but use blame any that is bad on the Vietnamese is
purely racist, it is scapegoating.

Dear
Kiri,
The
influx of the Vietnamese immigrants into Cambodia is real. There is no
need to exaggerate nor understate this issue. It is obvious that the
CPP can't talk about this issue and they probably won't; the last man
who dared to challenge about this issue was stripped from power and
jailed for 10 years.
However,
many Cambodians in rural areas have been brainwashed to accept this
problem as lesser important than their daily survival. Some staunch
members and supporters of the CPP don't care anymore about illegal
settlers. Money and power are more important for them. On the other
hand, the people in the cities are well informed about this issue and
many more relevant issues facing Cambodia.
Sam
Rainsy and Kem Sokha and any non-CPP party's leaders need to make sure
that their organizations are better than the CPP to gain confidence and
support from the people. Talking about Vietnamese illegal immigration
may not be as scary as various threats and intimidation by the CPP,
hence the results. It depends on how one says about the
Vietnamese immigrants, it can be very thorny issue indeed.
Take
care,

I think you the right point. Nobody in Cambodia has the courage to
change. Hun Sen and the CPP do not have the courage to change because
they know they do not want to upset the existing power structure that
keeps them there. The oppositions do not have the courage to change
because they understand that the road to power is doing the same as the
CPP. It is sad to see so-called western leaning "liberal" politicians
like Kem Sokha and Sam Rainsy to use old viet race card to win votes.
I know it is a lot to ask for individual to change consider that they
barely make enough to live. That is why democracy is not what we can
implant overnight and expect to mature overnight. It takes time and
it takes education, compassion, understanding to make democracy
possible. No one is saying the current Cambodian democracy is finest
in the world, but for it to develop, it takes an educated mass and
developed country. Everyone in Cambodia sees his or her way is the
right way in her own self interest but no one, I mean no one put
country interests first. I do understand why people want to be lok tom
and I do not envy who are. I despite however those have idealistic
pretentious holier than thou crowd do to nothing to help the country
but their lip service and their self interests. Ask ourselves What
have we done lately for Cambodia besides contesting for Kout Aing?

Dear Kon Khmer, Lok Bun
Heang and all,
The "will" of most government
officials to curb corruption in Cambodia is very little. All of them
know that corruption is bad and very dangerous to Cambodia's survival,
but the influence of dollars (money) and government's "positions" is
too powerful. Corruption sinks much deeper and deeper (than we can
realize) into all Cambodian subconscious mind to the point that
most of Cambodians (from all walks of life) don't know the difference
between right and wrong anymore. Cambodian society today is submerged
by this deadly plague.
Many people have argued that
there are corruptions everywhere in the world to justify evil deeds in
Cambodia. But the fact is clear that Cambodia is among the worst
countries in the world that is run for so long by corrupted
institutions and the government in the open. Everyone knows it, sees
it, hear it and yet decides to go on with it and does very little to
stop it... Many people voted for the same individuals and political
parties in the last general election to run Cambodia again. Why?
Because most of Cambodians are corrupted in/at every levels of
Cambodian society. The "haves" paid to the have-nots to vote for them
and the have-nots accepted the payments (in many different forms) and
kept on voting for the same rulers-- the ones who have more money and
power. In the eyes of the laws, the bribers and those who accept
bribes are equally wrong and therefore, in reality, neither one of the
groups will have the courage to change.
In politics, those who seriously
oppose "corruption" and want to lead to curb it have to be clean
themselves. Leaders of all opposition parties need to be clean and have
the will to stop corruption and/evil doers within their own circle of
leadership and infrastructures. Lip servicing is not going to work. In
addition, the people who support the oppositions with all resources and
from all sources need to be vigilant and demand that their
organizations are clean. Clarity and transparency must be provided
before any assistance can be continued and given.
It is hard for a "toad frog" to
successfully sell medications to cure skin diseases.
Have a good weekend.

Dearest Khmers. Esp, all Khmers who have Khmer spirit in their heart ,
but not any Khmers who have evil and brutal heart in their mind.
I have read a newspaper article from the Cambodia Daily issued Monday,
August 25, 2008 and realized that a long-awaited anti-corruption
[draft law] has been finalized and will be given to the NA shortly the
fouth government is formed next month. I am sure to believe that no
one believe in what Cambodian government do nowaday. The government
has made many promises to this to do that but everything seems still
be the same, nothing has been improved to be better. I have lived in
my nation country since I was born. One big severe and cardinal
suffering to myself is a liar from my leaders for serveral regimes.
My country leaders they are the smartest liar to their own nation and
people. I still don't know and reveal that how long more...more they
might change their mind to show that they have the real Khmer spirit
in their mind. The way to convince all Kon Khmer who are poor of
education, igorance of their own belief and awkwardness that has been
absorbed in their mind for many centries that still be the big
problem to be cheated by their evil leaders for centuries.
Infact, I was born form cow dung in a very small rural countryside in
Takeo Province, and I moved to find education in Phnom Penh with a
very hard and lonely life. I worked as a builder to earn some money to
support my school fee. Life has been suffered , so I have to struggle
in order to achieve my ultimate goals that I had set when I was young.
I promised to my parents that I would be a high educated person and
become a useful person to my nation and people. In fact, I can achieve
my purpose.
In such a thing, I have learned that there are many primary causes
which all Khmer leaders they have never thought and renovated to help
Khmers and this gold land, but their own power and help to obey and
bown down their head to support the neighboring countries.
I am very serious to have talk about Khmer society for this recent
decade.
I wonder when all Khmer leaders show their Khmer spirit mind to
develop their nation and overcome their neighboring enemies.
There are corruptions almost everywhere in Cambodian starting from the
higher -ranking official to the lowest ranking- official in the
government but it seems to be their stony culture in this small
society.
When I travelled somewhere in cambodia I even heard a young Cambodian
people talking together about corruption corruption corruption in
their community. All Khmers seem to be beggers in the whole county.
Khmer farmers beg for food, clothes, and almost everything from their
local leaders. On the other hand, all Khmer leaders from many
centuries have been the popular beggers in Southeast Asia Pacific.
Eh....I am very shy and very sorry.
I as well as other Kon Khmer doubt how much debt that we have owed
to the other countries.
Cambodia is a rich natural country in Southeast Asia Pacific,
according to the ancient history known as Funan. During that time
Khmer kingdom was a prosperous nation in this mainland. But there long
after centuries why this rich nation has poorer and poorer? Who
have made this rich nation become poorer and poorer , weaker and
weaker?
I think that the primitive reason which has made this kingdom
become poorer and poorer and smaller and smaller nation because of the
lack of leadership of the leaders of this nation for centuries.
The way the Khmer leaders think are power , own family property,
partisanism, power challenge and evil heart they have.
My suggestion to the fouth mandate government, I think that all
khmer leaders should practice anti- corruption law first of all other
khmer people. You should think that you are the first Cambbodian who
must show up your great mind to love your nation.
The way that is the best belief is that you should declare your
assets to all khmer people to know what kinds of assets you have
owned. In such a thing I and all other Khmer might believe what you
all are doing now.
This way is assuring that all of you have Khmer spirit in your ming
and it can help to develop our country like other countries in the
world.
Eliminating the corruption acitivities from your high-ranking
officials is the primitive factor to show that all of you love and be
honest to Khmer nation and people.
It is enough for you all to eat everything from Kon Khmers. Stop
cheating Khmer. Stop stealing Khmer properties, and Stop bowing down
your head to obey the neighboring enemical countries.
Buddha had taught all his followers to know the five precept
prohibitions:
1. prohibit killing
2. prohibit stealing
3. prohibit sexual disbehavior
4. prohibit harmful language
5. prohibit the use of intoxican or druken wine
>From Kon Khmer to all Khmer leaders and other Khmers to take
consider!
