Danish diplomat taken aback by sentence?

Johanne Vinther Axelsen, 55, who has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in
Cambodia for trying to send codeine pills out of the country.
A 15-year sentence for a Danish woman is out of all proportion according to
Denmark's leading diplomat in Cambodia.

leading diplomat in Cambodia says he has been taken aback by the 15-year
sentence handed down to 55-year-old Johanne Vinther Axelsen, who has been found
guilty of trying to send 10,761 codeine pills out of the country."We simply
don't understand the sentence and we don't yet know what the sentence is based
on," Tom Barthel Hansen, Head of the Danish Representation Office in Pnom Penh
tells politiken.dk.His office had envisaged a maximum penalty of between two
and five years. "15 years in prison is out of all proportion," Hansen
says.CodeineJohanne Vinther Axelsen was arrested at a post office in Cambodia
last year as she attempted to mail a large number of codeine pills to the
United States and Canada for her son, who lives in Cambodia."They became
suspicious at the post office and she was arrested. It may be the number of
pills involved that has given rise to the heavy sentence," says Tom Barthel
Hansen.Nonetheless he remains puzzled, as codeine pills are freely available at
Cambodian pharmacies without a prescription.

ImproveDate: Wed, 14 Jan 2009 18:35:28 -0800

Dear Mr ssamoeun,Thank you for your information.Would you be kind to submit my
remark to the attention of the Bank please. This report .AKP, Phnom Penh,
January 14, 2009
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E Sok An, cabinet minister meets with
Mrs. Cannette Dixon, newly appointed director of World Bank to Southeast Asia,
in which the guest is seeking more understanding on the perspective of the
royal government of Cambodia so as to closely cooperate and smoothly fulfill
the works between both sides.
H.E Sok An welcomed the World Bank's new projects to assist the kingdom's
agricultural and transportation fields.
I wish to remind you that the World Bank must be aware of these facts:
Remember this song " " "Corruption, corruption, corruption". said World Bank
Président James Wolfensohn to Cham Prasidh. As of today there is no
ANTI-CORRUPTION LAW adopted yet and the World Bank is going to throw the money
to the thieves ? Do you recall?
Jan. 11, 1979 The UN Security Council agreed, over the objections of the Soviet
Union and Czechoslovakia, to let Prince Norodom Sihanouk present a demand for
the withdrawal of Vietnamese forces from Cambodia.

Oct. 21, 1986 The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution A/RES/41/6, by vote
of 116-21 with 13 abstentions, calling for a withdrawal of Vietnamese forces
from Cambodia.

US president Reagan said :America calls Vietnam to restore Cambodia
Independence . President Reagan's address to the 43d Session of the United
Nations General Assembly in New York, New York,September 26, 1988. "Mr.
Secretary-General, there are new hopes for Cambodia, a nation whose freedom and
independence we seek just as avidly as we sought the freedom and independence
of Afghanistan. We urge the rapid removal of all Vietnamese troops ...." First,
we must understand the behavior and character of a VietnameseVIETNAMESE
CHARACTER as described in this book : " THIEF, LIAR : BOOK " GIAI PHONG " by T
Terzani describes a Vietnamese as THIEF, A LIAR, A KILLER, A DECEIVER , a
sleeper ..... CONSEQUENCES :For over 30 years of Vietnam occupation look to
the Cambodian youth pushed to get drug from the Chinese drug dealers like these
?======================In Phnom Penh under the Vietnamese invader police
administration with the label "Cambodian" police. Does the World Bank realize
that ? In 2008 Vietnam pledges to abide by UN charter ?THEN ALL VIETNAMESE
INVADERS AND ILLEGAL VIET SETTLERS MUST COMPLY TO THE 10 UN RESOLUTIONS AND GO
HOME.
Would you be kind to submit my remark to the Bank . Thank you

Cambodian exports.> > The Cambodia Trade Development Support Program, or TDSP,

efforts are all the more critical,” said Annette Dixon, the new Cambodia>

As part of its ongoing efforts to address challenges in the export sector, the>

activities – all working toward the goals outlined by the DTIS.> > This,
combined with the global economic slowdown, makes the TDSP a very timely>
program that fully supports Cambodia’s economic growth strategy, said H.E.
Keat> Chhon, the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and
Finance.> > “The objectives of the Project are to improve the developmental
impact of donor> advice and, significantly, to increase Government’s own

Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the European Commission> Delegation in Cambodia said:
“More than any other region in the world, the> European Union is aware of the
benefits of trade for economic development.” He> added: “The European Union is

And as the biggest market for exports> from developing countries, we provide
duty-free access to exports from LDCs> (less Development Countries) like
Cambodia under the preferential trading> system 'Everything But Arms' (EBA).

Commission's support strategy for Cambodia.”> > *** NO LONGER INTERESTED IN
