Temples d’Angkor : les tickets rallongent

Au moins la crise aura permis d’assouplir les conditions de visite des
incontournables temples d’Angkor.
A la demande des professionnels du tourisme, sur décision du Premier ministre,
le ministre du Tourisme a demandé à l’entreprise Sokimex, concessionnaire,
d’apporter quelques modifications au fonctionnement de la billeterie.
Si rien ne change en ce qui concerne le billet pour la journée (20 dollars),
celui de trois jours auparavant consécutifs (40 dollars) permettra, dorénavant,
de se rendre sur le site toujours trois fois, mais ces trois entrées seront à
prendre sur une semaine. C'est ce qu'a confirmé un responsable de l'autorité
Apsara en charge de la protection, la sauvegarde et l'aménagement de la région
d'Angkor, assurant que ces mesures permettrons une meilleure répartition des
touristes sur le site ainsi qu'une souplesse dans les visites.
Quant au pass d’une semaine (60 dollars), il donnera accès aux temples toujours
durant 7 journées, mais à répartir sur un mois complet.
Rien n'est encore prévu concernant les expatriés et surtout ceux résidants à
Siem Reap, la cité des temples. Ils sont toujours considérés comme des
touristes, même les personnes mariés avec des locaux et parents d'enfants à
moitié cambodgiens. L'idée d'une carte annuelle, même payante, n'a jamais pu
être mis en place malgré les réclamations des personnes concernées.
Ces nouvelles mesures qui font d'ores et déjà la joie des professionnels du
tourisme entreront en vigueur dès que les nouveaux billets auront été imprimés.
Selon le ministère du Tourisme cambodgien, le pays a accueilli 2,1 millions de
touristes en 2008, soit une augmentation de 5,5 % par rapport à 2007.

Vietnam expects to earn $3.2 bln from wood exports this year [Surprise! ...

HANOI, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam plans to earn revenue of 3.2 billion U.S.
dollars from wood products exports this year, up from 2.8 billion U.S. dollars
over 2008 despite difficulties fueled by the global economic crisis, the local
newspaper New Hanoi reported Monday.
To slash difficulties for the country's wood exporters, Vietnam's Ministry of
Industry and Trade urged local wood processing and exporters to ensure a stable
supply of raw materials instead of the imported ones to reduce production costs.
At present, Vietnam's major wood sources are in Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and
Indonesia, whose governments are narrowing wood materials exports.
Simultaneously, the domestic wood industry needs to raise competitiveness by
stepping up investment in technologies and equipment, said the ministry.
Vietnam's biggest importers for wood products are the United States, European
countries and Japan.
