1. Relatively wealthy people ARE required to give some of their money to poorer
people in their own country; this happens in EVERY country in the world...its
the tax system...sometimes its a lot of money...sometimes, its not as
much...and people across the world accept this...they may feel angry when they
feel they are giving too much, but on the whole we all accept it.
2.All wealthy countries give money as gifts or donations to countries in need
or when theres a natural disaster or after a war etc...BUT this form of giving
is VOLUNTARY.
What I was getting at when I responded to an email from Bury is the need or
REQUIREMENT for wealthy developed countries to give money to needy countries
when the wealthy countries have caused the problem.
The main issue as I write today in Copenhagen is that the poor countries
are saying that the wealthy countries MUST be REQUIRED to give money to help
poor countries mitigate the effects of sea rise and temperature rise not just
as a straight gift but because over the past 100 or more years its the wealthy
countries who have caused the problem...The second issue in Copenhagen is
basically - if we could require the world to pollute less we wouldnt be asking
for money at all because global warming would slowly come to a halt..
