Hi Perom: Thanks for the AVNK link. What a memory, where did you get that? I never knew it existed. Promtion 8A and and 8B were mostly guys from all the Faculte de Science and associated university in PPenh. On the list of the KIA I saw a friend of mine in it - Sri Sokhom. He happened to fly one of these experimental aircarft (TU 21 or something like that, or known as Otter) which was plagued with flaws here in the state, and they gave it to us to fly. It was meant to be postal or agricultural aicraft, but converted to a cargo/gunship and not very maneuveurable. I heard that Sokhom was diving to get a closer strike at the target with the 20mm door gun. But when he tried to recover the aircraft stalled, he and the gunner when down in the Tonlesap river near Kampong Chhnag trying to help a marine squadron under VC embush sometime in 1972.
The other one was Nou Hak Menh, my very close classmate in grade school. The guy was a math and science genius, he could not fly because they say his hands sweat profusely during each approach for landing, to the point it become dangerous, they made him a navigator, he was the best navigator. I never knew what happened to him until I see his name on the list, as a missing or captured by the enemy. I recognize a lot of names on the living list. It is very hard to swallow when you think that 80% of our generation of educated class perished fighting for what we believe. Speaking of good eating around the old town of Takhmau I've had it all. I never missed a chance, since I was a permanent fixture in the Colonel's Jeep which has the command and control radios and I was in- charge.
