Rep. Rostenkowski Remembered;?
was he better than this man
Rep. Rostenkowski Remembered; his years in Congress?
Rostenkowski served 18 terms in the House, from 1959 to 1995. During that time,
he served as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee for 13 years.
The congressman’s political career ended in 1992 when he was indicted and
charged with misusing government and campaign funds. Four years later, he
pleaded guilty to two counts of mail fraud and served 15 months in prison.
Despite his imprisonment, he maintained his innocence and was later pardoned by
President Bill Clinton in 2000.
First Week in Impeachment Trial for federal Judge Thomas Porteous finishesToday
The impeachment trial for New Orleans federal Judge Thomas Porteous before the
Senate Impeachment Trial Committee held four days of testimony this week.
Prosecutors presented evidence in their effort to prove that the judge engaged
in acts of corruption spanning several decades, including engaging in a
kickback scheme with a Louisiana law firm. Read More »
The majority of the testimony presented involves allegations that Porteous
improperly accepted gifts and money while serving as a Louisiana state judge.
Witnesses have been questioned on his personal and professional finances, as
well as specific examples of the alleged actions.
The defense team is arguing that most of the accusations against Porteous
involve the period prior to his federal judge position. They have also claimed
that a bad precedent would be set if he is found guilty, as the Senate has
never impeached a judge for conduct before assuming federal office.
The trial will reconvene again on Tuesday
The chairman of the Senate Armed Services committee.
Sen. Carl Levin was in the middle of taking questions during a visit to a
Michigan cafe on Monday when a Michigan State University senior threw a pie at
him, according to The Big Rapids Pioneer. The pie successfully hit the chairman
of the Senate Armed Services committee.
Someone who "throws something at somebody or hits somebody with something
doesn't understand the blessings of America," Levin said, as he wiped the pie
from his face. According to the paper, Levin also said that we are blessed to
live in a country where one has the right to free speech, but that kind of
violence wasn't acceptable.
The pie-throwing incident came moments after another student delivered a
mini-speech blaming Levin for his stance on foreign policy issues, including
"Israel war crimes against the Palestinian people. "
The student who threw the pie, Ahlam Mohsen, explained his actions to the
newspaper thusly: "We wanted to target Levin today to send a message that
liberals and Democrats are just as implicated in the violence as the
Republicans.”
Mohsen, 23, was later arrested.

Will Quantitative Easing By The Federal Reserve Unleash Economic Hell?
Most of the folks populating Congress are so incompetent that they should not
even be hired to mop the floors of a Dairy Queen.
But the truth is that it was seen as far back as 1835. In his article for
CNN, Keith R. McCullough included a very appropriate quote by
Alexis De Tocqueville, the author of Democracy in America….
“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can
bribe the public with the public’s money.”
Today, approximately 57% of the U.S. government budget is spent on direct
payments to American citizens or is money that is spent on behalf of individual
American citizens.
WHEN MEMBERS OF THE US CONGRESS BECOME CORRUPTS
Watchdog panel cites global impact of US bailout

WASHINGTON (AP) - The $700 billion U.S. bailout program launched in response
to the global economic meltdown had a far greater impact overseas than other
countries' financial rescue plans did on the U.S., according to a new report
from a congressional watchdog. Billions of dollars in U.S. rescue funds wound
up in big banks in France, Germany and other nations. That was probably
inevitable because of the structure of the Treasury Department's program, the
Congressional Oversight Panel says in a new report issued Thursday.
THE 111TH US CONGRESS IN TROUBLE:
CORRUPTION ! INCOMPETENCE, ARROGANCE, IGNORANCE AMONG MEMBERS SUCH AS
SENATORS CHRIS DODD, CARL LEVIN, CHARLES SHUMER , BERNIE FRANK ETC.... RESULTED
IN THIS ?
But now we are starting to pay the price.
The truth is that the U.S. government has become an expert on wasting money.
Most of the folks populating Congress are so incompetent that they should not
even be hired to mop the floors of a Dairy Queen, and yet they control how
trillions of our tax dollars are spent.
The end result is that we have a financial mess that is absolutely
unprecedented.
But the truth is that it was seen as far back as 1835. In his article for CNN,
Keith R. McCullough included a very appropriate quote by Alexis De Tocqueville,
the author of Democracy in America….

Today, approximately 57% of the U.S. government budget is spent on direct

For decades, the “Congress critters” have been bribing the American people (and
each other) with massive payouts and have been getting away with it.
