The latter one was suppose to reduce MIT Lisp Machine(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisp_%28programming_language%29) to the present day Desktop PC. Within two years, TI was able to achieve its goals even though the price of the Lisp Desktop Machine was 4 to 10 times more expensive than the PC at that time. Then came along OOP and faster Intel based PC. Lisp is well known as AI language, perhaps better than OOP. Unfortunately, Lisp CPU lacks of FPU. Even though TI had the best FPU, it can not be incorporated into the Lisp CPU on the same chip. Another flaw was Lisp CPU is not scalable in term of architect/design, So, it stuck with 32-bit while Intel CPU has FPU and is scalable. I've thought DARPA will use LISP CPU to build Super AI computers, but they didn't and stop financing the project. Only a few thousands Lisp Machine(code name "Explorer") were built and only a few survived and the rest are in Museum. China had been working to snatch disgruntle chinese american scientists for years and one of them was a Senior Member Technical Staff. He was one of the best Gas(gallium arsenide) expert.
