Banteay Meanchey – Hun Hean, the former
Banteay Meanchey police commissioner who was removed from his position on 07
January, was arrested and taken in handcuff by cops from the ministry of
Interior on 09 January.

Another deputy police commissioner, Chheang Son
who was in charge of means – and of justice prior to that position, was also
arrested but he was not handcuffed.

The arrest of the two Banteay Meanchey top cops
is due to their involvements in drug trafficking in a major raid that took
place
recently. The case of these two cops are now in the hand of the Anti-Corruption
Unit and the justice department of Banteay Meanchey.

Hun Hean was removed from his position on 07
January, following a visit by Sar Kheng, the vice-PM and minister of Interior,
and by Ker Kim Yan, the chairman of the anti-drug trafficking unit, to Banteay
Meanchey.

There were 3 persons already arrested in this
case. [In addition to the two above,] Lim Mab, the former chairman of the
provincial anti-drug trafficking unit, was arrested and jailed since 6 months
ago. According to report, Hun Xen ordered the arrest of those involved in this
drug trafficking.

America calls Vietnam to restore Cambodia Independence .
President Reagan's address to the 43d Session of the United Nations General
Assembly in New York, New York,September 26, 1988.
"Mr. Secretary-General, there are new hopes for Cambodia, a nation whose
freedom and independence we seek just as avidly as we sought the freedom and
independence of Afghanistan. We urge the rapid removal of all Vietnamese troops
...."

As of today,Cambodia is still occupied by the Vietnamese troops despite the
call from the US president to Vietnam to cease her occupation of Cambodia since
1988.
Cambodia needs Independence from Vietnam and the Vietnamese invaders.

It’s very interesting but why some people can’t even write Khmer through
computer?. Why?. De : [email protected]

Objet : Khmer Language is very important! Khmer Language is the most important
part of Cambodian diaspora in abroad. Though, those people are active in
preserving Buddhism, Khmer culture and cuisine, tradition festivities, dances,
music, songs and clothing etc; those will not be sustainable if they and their
children cannot speak or use Khmer language.

The researches show that language is the most vital part of surviving ethnic
identity in the multi-cultural societies. Also children who can speak more than
one language are found that they are more intelligent and flexible than
children who can speak only one language.

Seeing this importance, the Khmer Language School of Sunday of Khmer-Canadian
Buddhist Cultural Centre in Canada under the sponsorship of Cambodian Canadian
Association has firmly committed to achieve this goal by opening Khmer Language
School since 2003. We have many students graduated from this language school
and many younger students are eagerly looking forward to participating the
classes.

To achieve this Language School, the incentives and encouragement for students
to attend classes are very crucial. Without having capable instructor, engaging
from parents and the community, the number of students would not be increased.

I would like to thank the community, associations, students, parents and others
who have made this goal successful, and I do hope that our Khmer Language
School will strive to give opportunity for our younger generations to grow as
well as to preserve the heritage of their parents.

Attached here are schedule in 2011 of this Winter semester.

With Loves and Sincere Regards,

Sophan
