Hi KC,

How are you doing?
People are greed by nature. As long as they go by the law, they will
take anything that are available to them. When I came back to Texas in 1983,
there were a lot of Cambodian refugees in Dallas. A year or so later,
lots of them moved to CA or MA because they don't want to work. How
can we blame them if the welfare benefits is the same or even more than
when they held job(s)?
I was just tired of Almighty Savun(or the Republicans) who always blames

the democrats forany misdeed.

Dear bawng and all,
That's not a surprise...it's not illegal to owe a house ( the policies did not
specify the value of the house ) and eligible for public assistance as long as
they live in that house. however this scumbag should be ashame of themself to
be such a greed...
Below are the requirement for the state of California...

Eligibility

Basic Requirements

Reside in California and intend to stay

Have children or are pregnant and:
        * One or both parents are absent from the home, deceased or disabled

        * Both parents are in the home, but the principal wage earner is either
unemployed or working less than 100 hours per month at the time they apply for
assistance
Be a United States citizen or a lawful immigrant

Have a Social Security number or have applied for one

Have a net monthly income less than the maximum aid payment for family size

Have less than $2000 in cash, bank, accounts and other resources ($3000 if 60
years or older)

Provide proof of regular school attendance for all school age children

Provide proof of immunizations for all children under the age of six.

 Cooperate with child support requirements

 Participate in welfare-to-work activities

Perform 32 hours of work related activities per week for a single parent
household or 35 hours per week in a two-parent household

Property and Resources

For CalWORKs applicants and participants there is a $2000 or $3000 (if 60 years
or older) property limit.  Motor vehicles valued at $4650 or less may be
excluded from the resource limit.  If the County agrees, participants may also
save up to $5000 in restricted bank accounts to buy a home, start a business or
pay for college or vocational training for a household member.  Some resources
that do not count include:

A home, if the family lives in it

Personal and household items such as furniture, appliances and computers

 Tools needed for employment

Federal relocation and disaster relief benefits

If property is owned with someone else, only the participant's share counts

Child Support

Every parent/caretaker relative participating in CalWORKs must cooperate with
the Child Support Services Department (CSSD) to collect child support for the
children from any absent parent.  Families on aid will get to keep $50 of the
monthly child support payment for each month the absent parent pays on time.
Failure to fully cooperate with the CSSD could result in a 25% reduction in
aid, unless good cause is determined.  Good cause includes the following
situations:

The participant is a victim of domestic violence

The participant or child(ren) may be in danger if CSSD contacts the
absent parent

When rape or incest has occurred

School Attendance and Immunizations

All school-age children, except those in the Cal-Learn or other approved teen
parent program, must attend school to receive aid.  Parents must also show
proof that all children not in school and under the age of 6 have received
appropriate immunizations within 30 days from the date of eligibility.  A
financial penalty will be imposed on the parent/caretaker relative for failure
to comply with the immunization requirements.  In the following situations, the
family may be exempt from the immunization rules:

Immunizations are contrary to religious beliefs

 Immunizations are medically inappropriate

"They have been receiving the benefits since 2003."

Why did your Republican approve it? And your Republican did not do anything to
stop it for almost two terms?

I think, it is very interesting story to share. I know the democrats and social
workers are loving them.  It is the democrats' job security.

Seattle welfare recipient lives in million-dollar home
By Eric Pfeiffer | The Sideshow - 4 hrs ago

A Seattle woman who is receiving welfare assistance from Washington state also
happens to live in a waterfront house on Lake Washington worth more than a
million dollars.

Federal agents raided the home this weekend but have not released the woman or
her husband's name because they have not officially been charged with a crime.

However, federal documents obtained by KING 5 News show the couple currently
receives more than $1,200 a month in public housing vouchers, plus state and
government disability checks and food
stamps. They have been receiving the benefits since 2003.

The 2,500 square-foot home, which includes gardens and a boat dock, is valued
at $1.2 million. And even though the couple has been receiving the benefits for
nearly 10 years, records show that they accurately listed the address of their
current home when applying for the state and federal benefits.

A federal official told KING 5 that the couple likely took advantage of a
loophole, which allows low-income individuals to receive financial assistance
to help them pay their rent and move away from housing projects. However, the
law does not require officials to verify what type of home the benefits
recipient is living in.

As if the million dollar home weren't enough, the supposedly low-income couple
also gave money to various charities and traveled around the world to locales
in Turkey, Tel Aviv and resort towns in Mexico, according to court records.--
