American idustries went to open their production and R&D facilities in
Singapore in the 90s alot knowing that it's expensive to do business
there. Why did they do it anyway?

My friend used to work for a major company here in America. He was a
leader of R&D group and told me the main reasons that they moved their
production and R&D to Singapore.
First, it's cheaper than spending on manufacturing in America. The
labor cost is far cheaper.
Second, Singapore government did indeed concentrate on education for
their people. American companies didn't just look at the profit in a
short period of time. They look beyond the horizon. Education played a
major role to attrack foreign investors.

Now, let's go back to Cambodia. The only thing that Cambodians have
today for foreign investors is the labor. Their man power to produce
like machine is readily available. They don't have any skilled labor.
Many of you would argue with this one. Let us face the fact here. The
only production Cambodians can offer today is manufacturing labor.
That's it. They don't have anything else.
