Mr Labite, You don't like Sihanook but there are plenty of idiots out there who worship Sihanook even their families died like dogs during Khmer rouge regime.
It is not possible to find a Cambodian who didn't loose a family member during Pol Pot's regime. Those idiots don't know Sihanook was behind KR ? gimme a break ! I bet plenty of these idiots in Long Beach will commit suicide during Sihanook funeral so they would follow their great leader. Those idiots do know the CIA was behind Lon Nol's coup, but instead of following their great leader in Pekin, they prefer to stay in the US. Good Riddance, less idiots on earth is a good thing. Norodom Sihanouk is not a great leader. Instead, he is a great manipulator. Let us look at him in history. The people of Cambodia considered him as the father of the Cambodian independence. He was the one who really brought back their independence back to their country from France. Eventhough, that was true, Sihanouk and his Sangkum Reas Niyum were not the only ones who fought to force the return of their sovereignty. Norodom Sihanouk took the credit by himself. During his tenure as prime minister, he tried to rid those of his opponent so he could silent them from his prime time before the Cambodian people. During his tenure as prime minister, Sihanouk and his kingship friends and relatives enjoyed so much the power over the Cambodian ordinary people. They could do no wrong. We all can call it " IMPUNITY". Corruption was also high on the list because the country was enjoying the peace and prosperity. Many people are saying today that it was ok because the people were enjoying it. That was not ok. There were people who were still living under extreme poverty. They were used by upper class and had no choice but to continue on their poverty. Sihanouk was telling the world that he wanted to keep Cambodia neutral when it came to the war in Vietnam. The facts showed clearly that Sihanouk allowed North Vietnamese and Vietcongs to use Cambodian soil to transport troops and supplies to fight the war in South Vietnam. He even allowed China to use Cambodian seaport to transport supplies to feed NVA in South Vietnam as well. Norodom Sihanouk was ousted because America Sihanouk's ugly truth about their relationship with North Vietnam and China. Lon Nol Came in and brought Cambodia worse into another level. Norodom Sihanouk then joined his long time enemie, Khmer Rouge. He wanted back the power that he had enjoyed so much. I would never excuse Sihanouk for what he had done to the Cambodian people. Millions of Cambodians had passed away from the help of Norodom Sihanouk. Please do not tell me that he too was a victim of Khmer Rouge. He was not. He was a victim of the monster that he helped created. My friend, a Cambodian life is like gold. Millions lives of the Cambodian people are not just gold. They are human being whose lives were lost partly by the hands of Norodom Sihanouk. DON'T TELL ME THAT SIHANOUK WAS A GREAT LEADER. HE IS A BASTARD WHO SHOULD STAND TRIAL FOR WHAT HE HAD DONE TO THE CAMBODIAN PEOPLE. I'm sorry to say such thing to the person that millions of people still love him. This is my opinion what the real Norodom Sihanouk. What I'm saying is the truth of the Cambodian history, not something that I had made up.
