Some ideas that come to mind:
- Replace the plastic blocks with something tougher? That might be
difficult, espcially if the blocks are made of something like
Polycarbonate plastics since these really are quite tough and
durable.
- Could the clamping screws be modified so that there is a piece of
somthing like rubber between the lock and the aluminum rail?
- You could rough up the aluminum rail as you suggested, but that might
also make it too small for the blocks to clamp onto it tight.
- Coating with something having a high coefficient of sliding friction
also seems reasonable.
- Is there any oil on the slide or clamping blocks? How about cleaning
them to see if that helps?
