If this is off topic, flame and berate me and we can wastea lot of bandwith arguing,
or simply tell me and I will find somewhere else to ask :)
When I had my studion I used some monolights made by paul C. Buff. Basically they were
a 100 watt bulb surrounded by 4 sets flash tubes. The bulb acted as a modelling light
and on a good day you could even use it in correct ratio instead of a flash meter.
All that said I have been considering building such an animal because of the current
abundance of very inexpensive (free?) flash tubes available in throw-away cameras.
Is anyone familiar enough with them to point me in the right direction so I don't
electrocute myself or burn down the house :)
