Hi: As I recall from 40 years ago, the RB Super D had a semi-automatic
(politically incorrect term, some may think; that's their problem)
diaphragm and the procedure was to wind the shutter, cock the diaphragm,
do the focus/frame business and push the shuter release at which point
the mirror came up (thud) the aperture stopped down (click) and the
shutter worked (crash). Marty Forscher (of sainted memory) used to do a
modification in which the procedure was much the same except that
instead of stopping down automatically, it tripped a normal Compur-type
shutter mounted BTL while the curtain stayed open as for a normal time
exposure except that the Compur shutter had already cycled, strobe flash
and all.
It was simple and worked every time and there were, naturally, no
problems from room light.
