Plain slides without gears or belts or anything can be quite nice to use
as well. I used such a camera as a temporary setup, and after "
finishing it", almost wished I had gone back to the plain rails with
screw lock. One day I'd like to come up with a compound focus with a
plain slide for coarse and a cam or something for fine.
