Hi Bob:
This can very well be done on a finger joint fixture
(sliding table for making box joints). The cutter can
be a simple D bit ground from solid carbide if you go
slow. Shoot some compressed air at the cutter to cool
it or it will overheat shure as can be. Remember, at
the bottom of the gullet the cutter is quite small and
cannot take much heat. A better idea would be to use a
real milling machine with a multiple tooth gear cutter
($50 or so).
As to easy to make involute gear forms, I am game, how
is that done? I have been making cutters for 20 years
and have yet to see an easy way to make them.
