seems like the options are 1) a cheapy 35mm lens if close to the right size (e.g., a 100-135mm cheapy telephoto for mounting a quartz +10 diopter lens for shortwave Ultraviolet photography projects, if mounts can be hacked up (extension tube to body to match lens mount or reverse T-mount if available). Small range of adjustment, bigger with longer telephotos in many cases, fine precision machined setup
2) helical lens mounts for larger lenses, e.g., in medium format, I have the Komura Uni mount for 6x6cm lenses on bronica S2A, swap lens heads, use with different lenses. A vivitar 600mm lens has a similar helical lens mount with 600mm f/8 lens head (~$50 used), nikon also made a similar " " mount. 3) for larger lenses, an adaptation of the telescope focusing mounts for objective lenses and eyepieces might work? see Amateur Telescope Making books and sites for details, Sky and Telescope mag for possible sources etc. most of the commercial helical mounts for LF lenses like Schneider's seem rather pricey and hard to find, so anybody got other options for them too? ;-) * Robert Monaghan POB752182 So.
