>>> Very recently cleaned up many things on my system and switched over
to 10.3.1, and there's still no change: At -NO- time since .7 have i
ever been able to select text within a web page in Camino and drag
it to the desktop. Images only.

I just tried it, it still works fine for me. I'm at a complete loss.

Hasn't worked for me, either, since 0.7ish. Nightly from the 24th here.

Check out this bug report: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214938

"I've just had a look at the text dragging behaviour in the 2003090602
NB. As far as I can tell, the problem is that if you hold down the
mouse button for too long before starting to drag, the selected text is
not dragged. If you move the mouse immediately upon pressing the
button, the text is dragged as expected."

Confirmed on my 2003102915 version of Camino on 10.3.1

I have never had any trouble or issues with dragging text from a browser window back to the last "release" version. Currently using Build ID: 2003112513 (10.2.5).

Now I HAD had a problem with creating a clipping in TextEdit. As in, it never worked. Finally got around to posting about it and got the response that this it was a "behavior" of cocoa apps as opposed to carbon. As in TextEdit was cocoa and thus I had to "pause" with the text selected for a beat or three until I could create the clipping. This behavior I confirmed. Of course, this is a pain because I had become very used to the "fast drag" to create a clipping.

Now Camino is touted a cocoa... but I think the core Moz is carbon, right? As it renders/draws text, one must assume that the "carbon fast drag" applies, and this is very repeatable for me.

The "slow drag, don't work" seems like a Moz bug. I tried 2 other carbon apps and both work just fine creating the clipping whether it's slow or fast.
