I don't recall ever seeing this request, and that "feedback" most definitely wasn't from me. I'm curious which "developers" you have been in contact with.
if I recall correctly, I did send you an email about this, but it could have been Fraser too, I'm not sure. I also wrote about this to the mailing list.
I personally wasn't aware that changing icon locations or removing them would break CK. I'm not sure why it would, mostly because i'm not aware how it works.
Actually, CK isn't really broken. It still downloads the nightlies just fine. So if you turn off the theme installation, you wouldn't even notice a defect. The reason it broke is because the about.tif has been removed. It's not your fault and it's not my fault, because neither of us can really foresee when some change will break a feature. It's just that the latest rapid succession of events (change of the nightly URL, change in icons) and the flood of emails it triggered made me look into whether I really wanted to continue with development.
In fact, I just now realize that the bookmarks are no longer stored in bookmarks.xml but in bookmarks.plist and all this time (since August 14 according to the last modification in bookmarks.xml) CK is backing up the wrong bookmark file (yeah it does that in case a nightly screws up the bookmarks file). So the just released v2.2 of CK still backs up the wrong file. I just fixed that and have replaced the archive. So if you have downloaded the v2.2 before seeing this message, please re-download it if you want the correct bookmarks file backed up.
Does that mean I'm not appreciative?
No, but when you make significant changes to the UI files (icons, nibs, URLs), can you just drop me a note ahead of time and tell me, so I can better respond to the new situation? I'm not following the latest nightlies, so I would really appreciate it.
