f I command/middle-click a link to open it in a new window, and then
switch back to another window while it's loading, focus is stolen as the new
window jumps back to the front after its contents load.

I've noticed this enough to think it's repeatable, but I'm not positive. Is there a "doneLoading" message sent by the Gecko engine when a page is done loading, that the Cocoa GUI picks up? This would be a good thing for a preference item - and/or have cmd-click perform the default action (whether the apparently normal "jump to front when done", or whatever the user selected in the preference), and have cmd-opt-click do the opposite.

Or maybe just go whole hog and have the mod-key combinations for those behaviors, and maybe save page as well, be settable in a preference, like the key equivs in Expose are.. But that's getting way ahead of this current issue.
