Like others (including some vocal posters here :-)), I'm not really happy with Camino's tabbed browsing, especially since I switched to Panther. I started out working on a quick and dirty patch to improve this, and it's quickly become non-trivial. Here's a shot of what it looks like so far: http://geoff.mollyandgeoff.com/camino-grab1.png
Obviously, I plan to significantly improve the appearance of that; I haven't added any artwork yet. Currently, it implements all of the existing (pre 21 Feb) functionality. It's also about to get a close box on each tab, and I plan to handle drag-to-reorder tabs. As it grows, though, I'm wondering how to package it. Assuming the powers that be approve in principle of this sort of change, what's the best way to handle the following:
1. diffs to existing source files (I assume cvs diff -u)
2. new source files and the corresponding changes to the related project files
3. changes to .nibs
Any advice either from people who have packaged patches with many changes or people who would need to accept those would be appreciated.
I'd also be curious to know how people feel about the favicon in the tabs. When I add in a close box and drag-to-reorder, I see two difficulties with the favicon:
1. It takes up space that could be (better?) used for the name.
2. Someone who wants to drag the favicon could easily miss and drag the tab, or vice versa.
So would it be best to toss it (it's in the address bar anyway), remove the favicon drag, leave it alone, or modify it in some way I haven't thought of?
Any thoughts/advice are appreciated.
Thanks,
Geoff
