I'd rather like to see something more "cross-platform'ish". For instance iCab creates (or created) zip archives containing the html files along with the pictures, an alternative would be tar-files. Does anyone know, whether something like that is planned for Mozilla (or already implemented). I think this is much nicer as the archives can easily be mailed around and used be different people, something like a standard is missing here.

Would it be possible to use a zip/tar file, but somehow have MacOSX open the file from the desktop with Camino? The nice thing about the current setup (with a separate HTML file and picture folder) is that the user can just double-click on the HTML file.. With a package, I assume the Camino could be set as a handler. But with a zip file, it just looks like an archive, and so (as far as I know) can't automatically open Camino upon a double-click.

And of course, MacOSX packages will just look like folders to non-MacOSX users (although I'm not sure what happens when you mail a package).

Correct, but if a file format for "large amounts of content" would be available, it would at least be nice if Camino [..] Looking at the latest comment, MAF seems to be the way to go:
[..] So in my opinion, Camino should rather support something like this instead of Mac OS X bundles for saving HTML along with its resources.

Except that MAF isn't supported by other major browsers (read IE). With something (a package, a zip file, etc) containing a HTML file and a folder of content), anything could read it.
