I would strongly advise against the Camino devs putting time/effort
into spell checking in Camino. Yes, spell checking in a web browser
is VERY necessary, but having an individual checker built into the
browser means over time you'll develop a "learned words" list that
stays inside Camino.
Spell checking really should be system-wide. Apple's attempt is
feeble at best (I believe it's cocoa only).
There is a GREAT option... even tough it's a third party product.
Spell Catcher X. The old timers will remember this is an outgrowth of
the old Thunder days. The product is just not very expensive and is
always in a constant state of having new and cool things added. the
latest is an ability to query outside DICT servers in addition to
it's built in (licensed) dictionary/thesaurus.
it works system-wide in ALL applications, doesn't demand the latest
OS upgrade to function and does not discriminate against non-cocoa
apps. And it supports a reasonable range of non US languages. It's
really an excellent product, something I consider as necessary to a
Mac as the OS itself (no, I have no stake in rainmaker.com, it's
publishers, but I Am a happy user/beta tester).
