I searched for a bug that reesembled this behaviour. I specifically looked through the Sea Monkey bugs when I didn't spot anything in Camino bugzilla. The behaviour is exactly the same in both browsers. So what ever this turns out to be, the two issues in both browswers with Gmail are the same.
