Thanks to all who responded.

I'm not sure what caused this, but removing the ~/Library/Application
Support/Camino folder and restarting Camino seems to have fixed the
problem. I guess I should have tried this before posting to the group.

I restored the relevant personalization state from the old Camino
folder, and narrowed the problem to the prefs.js file which seems to
have been corrupted somehow. It may have happened when I was messing
with the caching and pipelining preferences through the CamiOptions
preference pane.

Anyways, thanks again to all, sorry for the confusion.
