Why does it work (ie. select all text when clicking once) for some and not others? It certainly doesn't for me on the latest nightly - Version 2006051001 (1.2+). I'll try on my other Macs when I get home.

Because the fix came in after 1.0 was released. People using 1.0 have the old one-click-to-select-everything behavior. People using nightlies have the corrected behavior.

As for the issue of UI consistency, I feel this really is a special case here. After all, tabbing into a text field also selects all text so what you type will replace what's there, not add to it.

Tabbing into fields selects all the text throughout the OS. Clicking once inserts the cursor throughout the OS. They have distinct standard behaviors.

Since the control in Camino is made to emulate (and will eventually be replaced by) the native search control, and that control has one- click-to-insert-cursor as a standard behavior, how is it a special case?
