For myself, I prefer child-led weaning, meaning to allow my child to lead in the weaning process. I think the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends at least one year and then there after for as long as mother wants to. And I think the World Health Organization recommends age 2 or 3. Someone else on the list might have the exact ages. Many people do breastfeed for several years. If you are questioning how long to feed, you may want to do some reading before you take any action. Also, check to see if you have a local La Leche League group and also check to see if you have a lactation consultant at your local hospital. You don't have to wean just b/c your baby is teething.
