A New Gestapo? --Albert Mohler Are you ready for an army of secularists to invade the sanctuary of your church, looking for evidence to use in complaints to the Internal Revenue Service? A group known as Americans United for Separation of Church and State has filed a complaint against Dr. Ronnie Floyd, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas, charging that the church should lose its tax-exempt status. Why? Because Pastor Floyd preached a message to his church that compared President Bush and Senator Kerry on issues like same-sex marriage and abortion. He did not endorse a candidate, but he was clear about the Bible's teaching on these crucial issues. In Kansas, another group is sending its members into conservative churches, looking for evidence to send to the IRS. This represents nothing less than the rise of a secularist Gestapo.
