The Tragic Death Of Sender ID

Born in large part of Microsoft's own research, Sender ID
today lies dead with Microsoft standing above, their hand
clenching a bloody dagger named "Intellectual Property
Rights."

I warned them before. Maybe they have some good points to
make about intellectual property, but the MARID standards
group, where the industry is attempting to bring order to
e-mail through authentication, was not the place to do it.
The only right thing to do was to make a liberal license
that everyone could live with, but Microsoft couldn't bring
themselves to do that. As a result, Microsoft has destroyed
their influence in the group.

Lancope's launch this month of its first SMC (StealthWatch
Management Console) appliance, and the simultaneous release
of its StealthWatch 4.1 system software, makes the company's
network behavior anomaly detection tools far easier to
manage than previous StealthWatch versions.

2. Opinion: Don't Freak Out Over 'E-Jihad'

Unless you're a specific target, it's not worth focusing on
unsubstantiated general warnings. The world is full of
threats.

5. News: Concerns Mount over Major Web Strike

A coordinated online strike against Internet servers by
terrorists, dubbed "electronic jihad," may or may not strike
this week, security experts said. One security researcher in
