All Horoscopes: http://web1.nypost.com/cgi-bin/horoscope.pl
ARIES
Since Mercury, the trickster of the zodiac, is under negative aspects at the moment,
you must expect a certain amount of deception over the next 24 hours, even from people
you think you can trust. Don't take anything that happens too seriously and don't hold
grudges against people who let you down. Like you, they will have been deceived.
1-900-990-7810*
TAURUS
Compromise is a must today. It does not matter how convinced you may be that you are
in the right and others are in the wrong. You won't get far - in fact, you won't get
anywhere - if you insist they come round to your way of thinking. It may seem as if
you are poles apart, but you can find a middle ground if you look for it.
1-900-990-7811*
GEMINI
Mercury, your ruler, opposes Uranus, planet of surprises, today, which among other
things suggests you will be caught by surprise by something you did not expect. The
simple fact is, you have taken certain things for granted when you had no reason to do
so. Admit you made a mistake and do what you can to put things right again.
1-900-990-7812*
CANCER
You will have to be a peacemaker today, and it will not be easy. Do what you can to
bring people together, but if it proves too tough a task, just back off and let them
fight it out. Do not, under any circumstances, get involved on a personal level
yourself. The moment you choose sides is the moment you put friendships in jeopardy.
1-900-990-7813*
LEO
If you are involved in deals and discussions of any kind, you must make sure you have
all the facts at your fingertips and you must make sure you are not being deceived.
That applies especially to money and business matters. The planets warn that certain
unscrupulous people won't hesitate to cheat you if they think they can get away with
it.
1-900-990-7814*
VIRGO
You cannot afford to take anything or anyone for granted today. Solar, lunar and
planetary activity in your birth sign endows you with amazing self-confidence, but the
downside is you might start thinking you cannot fail - worse, you might not think at
all. Any time others try to pressure you into making a quick decision, you must be on
your guard.
1-900-990-7815*
LIBRA
You may think you know what motivates other people - and maybe, to a certain extent,
you do - but the planets warn that you are not thinking straight, and that could lead
to some serious mistakes. Both in your personal life and at work, you are advised not
to jump to conclusions, because even when they are right, they will still in some way
be wrong.
1-900-990-7816*
SCORPIO
The sense of urgency you feel is an illusion brought about by your false belief that
if you don't act soon, fortune will pass you by. On the contrary, you are more likely
to do well if you wait a day or two. Tomorrow's new moon and Wednesday's sun-Mars
union will endow you with the direction and energy you need to succeed.
1-900-990-7817*
SAGITTARIUS
According to the planets, there is a flaw in your plans and if you ignore it and push
ahead regardless, you will regret it before the end of the week. You won't lose
anything by spending a few hours working out where it is you have gone wrong, and a
few more hours putting it right. Better to start late than start on the wrong foot.
1-900-990-7818*
CAPRICORN
What you hear today may not be music to your ears - in fact, you may find it insulting
and embarrassing - but common sense should tell you it is not worth getting worked up
about. If you allow yourself to get annoyed by what other people say about you, they
will have succeeded in their aim. It's only words after all.
1-900-990-7819*
AQUARIUS
If your instincts tell you to move in an unusual direction or to take the kind of risk
you would usually try to avoid, by all means, do so - but make sure you do not commit
yourself to anything you cannot back out of later. Most of the time your instincts can
be trusted, but this is the one time in a thousand they might let you down.
1-900-990-7808*
PISCES
Don't change anything just for the hell of it today because you will only have to
change it back again later. Uranus in your birth sign is urging you to be adventurous,
to take risks, to be different, but other aspects warn it might be better to stick
with what you know and trust - for now. Wait and see what the next few days bring.

JETS SOAR AFTER BAD START: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/28495.htm
By MARK CANNIZZARO
On the very first play of the 2004 season opener before their anxious, juiced-up
home crowd, the Jets looked like the Bad News Bears.
There was Jonathan Carter returning the opening kickoff, untouched by opposing
hands, tripping over the 20 yard-line as if it was some sort of amusement park booby
trap and out came the ball, which bounded to the turf as 22 players frantically chased
it.

CURTIS CARRIES ON: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/28491.htm
ONE more time the ball was in Curtis Martin's
hands, and one more time he was slicing through a gaping hole in the Cincinnati
defense, gliding downfield, bouncing off tacklers. When gravity finally took over, 12
yards later, he rose one last time, unsnapped his chinstrap, jogged off the field . .
. and listened to the wonderful sound of a football stadium saluting him for a job
remarkably well done.

ROUGH START FOR TOM'S BLUE TURKEYS: http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/28505.htm
PHILADELPHIA There was Alan Ameche plunging into the
Yankee Stadium end zone in overtime of The Greatest Game Ever played; Y.A. Tittle, on
his knees, blood streaming down his forehead; Flipper Anderson catching an overtime
touchdown pass against the Bill Parcells Giants and running through the tunnel to the
NFC championship game.

YANKS GOTTA WORRY: http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/28496.htm
BALTIMORE The Yankees would be lost without Gary Sheffield. Even with Mr.
MVP, they looked lost again yesterday. Sheffield's ninth-inning home run off Jorge
Julio saved the Yankees the embarrassment of losing on a day the Orioles put together
one of the worst pitching performances in their history, walking 14 batters.

AN OLD-SCHOOL WIN: http://www.nypost.com/sports/28502.htm
FOR old times sake, 23-year-old Roger Federer won his
third Grand Slam title yesterday in a three-set dunk intelligently sprinkled with
mighty dinks. Not only did he throw back Lleyton Hewitt's relentless ground strokes,
but he chipped, charged and returned tennis back to gentler, more cerebral times.

BOORS NEED TO GET A CLUE: http://www.nypost.com/sports/28487.htm

On paper, yesterday's Grade 1, $300,000 Garden City Breeders' Cup on turf for
3-year-old fillies was dominated by European shippers. In the end, it was one of the
few all-Americans in the field, trainer Linda Rice's Lucifer's Stone, who split horses
in mid-stretch under Jose Santos to win by 11/4 lengths at 9-1. Euro-invaders
Barancella, Noahs Ark and Necklace finished 2-3-4.

TORONTO So the owners' lockout plays another card a wild one in this

PHILADELPHIA Bravado is a rare attitude after a spanking and the Giants

there was Jeremy Shockey making promises about the next time the Giants tangle with
the Eagles.

COLEMAN ANSWERS WITH INT: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/28492.htm
  By EVAN GROSSMAN
Take one look at the Jets this season, and almost immediately, their most
glaring weakness jumps right out at you. It's the defensive backfield young,
inexperienced and a little too green for a Gang Green team that squeezed out a 31-24
opening-day victory yesterday over Cincinnati at the Meadowlands.

COWART HAPPY, PRODUCTIVE BACK IN MIDDLE: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/28497.htm
  By EVAN GROSSMAN
Flash back to the beginning of training camp. It was Sam Cowart this,

DOWNER FLICKS GIVE NO LIFT TO BILL'S MOOD
By Cindy Adams
BILL Clinton's movie industry pals are lamenting, where-oh-where-
have-the-happy-films gone. He's re cuperating, but it's no walk in the park. He's in
pain. Immobile. Friends are casting about for entertainment to give him an up, a lift,
something that would make him feel better, bring a smile for those endless homebound
hours. Reading won't be as relaxing as movies and the new crop is all heavy.

CATFIGHT IN THE BOOKSTORE: PORN STARS HUNT READERS
By SARA NELSON
It's the stuff of fantasy: two beautiful, blond porn stars size each other up, and
then vie for your attention.
Except in the case of Jenna Jameson and Candida Royalle, the competition is not on

Jameson's "How To Make Love Like a Porn Star," is currently in its third week on
the New York Times and other best seller lists; Royalle's "How to Tell a Naked Man
What To Do" is set to appear in bookstores next month.
