I came to France to be a nanny. I met my husband while I was out relaxing
one night and we got married 9 months later. We have been together 8 years
now.

My boys are Lewis and Gabin. Lewis will be 5 in October and is a real
little man now. He loves to follow his dad around and do like him. When he
imaginary plays he's always "going to work" and complains that "my boss is
so annoying". He goes to preschool, but they have combined his small class
with the small kindergarden class so he will actually do kindergarden twice.
I breastfed him for six months and only stopped because when I went back to
work I couldn't pump and work without being totally exhausted.

Gabin was born June 1 and weighed 10 lbs, 11oz. He has been a champion
nurser from the beginning. It was rough at first because he was really,
really hungry and colostrum just didn't seem to cut it. Unfortunately, I
carry Group B Strep and even though I was put on antibiotics early in labor,
he was infected and spent a week in neonatology ICU. We were seperated in
two different hospitals for 24 hours and they bottle fed him, but I went
right to work when I was transfered to the same hospital. It is super hard
to nurse a baby in ICU because you can not feed on demand and they insist on
weighing the baby before and after to ensure dosage. The first day, I was
required to give him supplements, but to everyones surprise (not mine) the
second day (his fourth day of life) my milk came in and he hasn't seen
formula since.

I am really enjoying breastfeeding this time because I just feel more
experienced and have stopped looking at the clock and just really let him
control and what they say is true, they put themselves on schedules when
they are ready. He is sleeping 10 hours at night and nurses about every 2.5
hours. I always tried to control my first boys schedule too much and never
really got anywhere.

At his three month well baby check-up they asked me how many milliliters he
drinks a day and I said I had no idea. They couldn't believe this big
beautiful baby was exclusively breastfed. How weird.
